School will be renamed starting next school year
Eupheus International School in Loulé has been taken over by Sharing Education Group and will be renamed Bright International School Algarve starting next school year.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by the group, managed by the Ladeira Santos family from Madeira.
Eupheus International School was inaugurated in 2019 and became a “leading education establishment in the region, with solid bases which Sharing Education Group now aims to elevate to new heights,” the group said in a statement.
In line with the group’s vision, the school’s rebranding and new name aims to “reflect the school’s commitment to promoting a brilliant and inspiring environment for students, workers, parents and the community in general.”
Miguel Ladeira Santos, CEO of Sharing Education Group, says that the planned improvements focus on “three fundamental areas – academic enhancement, investment in infrastructure (sports area, arts, sciences, music, and media labs), and the creation of sports and Performing Arts programmes.
“Simultaneously, the investment we have planned for the renovation of three buildings will allow us to increase the number of students by almost 200,” the CEO adds.
The school’s board will be supported by Tom Caston, coming from the MPW Cambridge Group of British schools and with “extensive experience in school leadership with the Cambridge curriculum,” who will help oversee the process and carry out the “pedagogical coordination” of the project.
Bright International School Algarve joins the two other schools that are already part of the Sharing Education Group in Portugal: International Sharing School Madeira, which will be moving to a new location next school year, which includes a residential area for students, teachers, researchers, and digital nomads, and already has more than 250 students from over 30 nationalities; and International Sharing School Taguspark, part of Portugal’s largest science and technology park in Oeiras Valley, which has over 700 students from over 60 nationalities and is also currently expanding its campus.
“The educational establishments of the Sharing Education Group are the only international schools operating in Portugal that include children from four months to 18 years old, from nursery to secondary education, respectively,” the group says. “They operate with IB Programmes (International Baccalaureate) and, in the case of the future Bright International School Algarve, with the Cambridge International Curriculum. Their distinctive teaching method is widely recognised in the sector, focusing on the individuality of the student, respecting their profile, and promoting a holistic approach to education. It also aims to enhance neuroplasticity, believing that exposure to a significant number of languages contributes significantly to the learning of science and mathematics. Finally, it aims to educate citizens with principles of integrity, justice, and empathy, encouraging them to discover their vocation, make a difference, and add value to the world through the activity they choose to pursue,” it adds.
