A shootout in the early hours of this morning, reportedly between ‘individuals of gypsy ethnicity’, left a number of parked cars in the Bairro de Lagarteiro very much the worse for wear. Dozens of police were ‘mobilised’ but as of later this morning, it appeared there were no victims/ injuries. The context of the incident were the city’s ‘São João celebrations’ which saw several street parties and a lot of drinking.
