From this Friday (August 12), Silves’ hugely popular Medieval Fair will revert the town to the Middle Ages.
The event, which runs until Sunday, August 21, is known for how vividly it recreates a 16th century Arab village, with the town’s streets lined with merchants and craftsmen.
Medieval battle reenactments, musical performances and poetry readings are all part of the entertainment programme, while the event this year will focus on the story of Ibn Qasî, a former leading Arabic influence on Silves.
Daily tickets cost €2, while a bracelet giving full access can be purchased for €4.
Daily tickets are sold at the fair, as well as at FNAC in Guia’s Algarve Shopping or online at ticketline.pt
The bracelet can be purchased from Silves parish council, as well as from the municipal pool, library, castle, museum, Islamic Heritage Centre, and several local shops.
There are also extra tickets for special, exclusive shows, while guests can also rent costumes to really get into the spirit of the event.
The fair takes place between 6pm and 1am.
