A 20-year-old man has been arrested following the fatal stabbing of his 63-year-old father in the family home in Santa Catarina do Bispo, on the outskirts of Tavira.
According to reports, the son was trying to protect his mother who was being attacked by his father.
The young man was arrested and is due to be heard in court, while his mother was initially taken to the hospital after reportedly feeling unwell following the explosion of violence.
UPDATE: the son has been remanded in preventive custody. Correio da Manhã tabloid writes that “there existed a history of domestic violence perpetrated by the father”. PJ police are in charge of the case.
