Spanish group takes over Mitsubishi Portugal

Automotive || Mitsubishi Portugal has been taken over by Bergé Automoción, the largest private automotive distributor in the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America.

The deal, which saw Bergé bid for the majority of the Japanese automotive manufacturer’s share capital in Portugal, also grants the Spanish group control over subsidiary Univex – Comércio de Automóveis.

Mitsubishi will be the fourth car brand Bergé represents in Portugal, alongside Kia, Jeep and Isuzu. In early 2014, it had already taken control of Mitsubishi Spain.

According to the distributor’s website, Bergé operates in six countries (Spain, Portugal, Chile, Peru, Colombia and Argentina) and currently represents a total of 25 brands (distribution and retail).
