The family of missing mother of two, Mónica Silva, 33, are taking it on themselves to follow up leads, as this agonising case moves towards its second month without closure. Monica, 33, seven months pregnant with her 3rd child, went missing on the night of October 3. Her former lover has been arrested and is being held in preventive custody. But he denies any involvement in what police and relatives all believe is an effective double murder – and so far, there is no body. Over the weekend, locals took part in excavations that proved fruitless. Mónica’s mother Filomena has told reporters the family is still following up ‘other leads’.
