Minister for Interior Administration, José Luís Carneiro, has reemphasised the need for everyone living and working in Portugal to be aware that wildfire risks this year are likely to extend into October. There can be no letting down of people’s guards: “We have many difficult weeks ahead of us”, he warned today. “This will be a summer of peaks, with temperature reductions and then abrupt temperature increases. We have to be prepared for a very difficult summer that will prolong until the end of September, or even October”.
