Support for those in need in East Algarve

East Algarve Walking Football has joined forces with SC Olhanense, the Junta de Freguesia de Olhão and the Município de Olhão to collect donations of non-perishable food stuffs, basic hygiene and cleaning products, pet food and baby products such as nappies. The drop-off point is the José Arcanjo Stadium (behind McDonalds on the EN125) every Monday between 11am and 1pm.

Last Monday was the first collection day and particular thanks go to Association Vibrant Cause, the charitable fundraising arm of Centre Algarve, Moncarapacho, who made a sizeable donation.

Goods can also be dropped off at Centre Algarve (on the Olhão road just outside Moncarapacho) between 10am and 4pm, Monday to Friday.

Denise Dahl of the Pink Flamingo Croquet and Social Club, supported by East Algarve Walking Football and East Algarve FC, together with her team of volunteers, are co-ordinating efforts to support deserving causes through the Families in Need Network. Goods can be dropped off at the Black Anchor Irish Bar, Tavira between 10.30am and 12.30pm, Monday to Friday, and at the Supermarcado Alfresco in Conceição Tavira during their normal opening hours.

Weekly supermarket collections for local families in Tavira, São Brás de Alportel and Vila Real de Santo António are advertised on the Pink Flamingo Croquet and Social Club Facebook page as are the details of where to make monetary donations via Facebook, PayPal or bank transfer. Support is offered to families in the East Algarve including Sao Brás de Alportel, Santa Catarina, Tavira, Manta Rota and VRSA as well as countryside areas in between.
