Regional sweets and cakes take centre stage in Alcoutim
Alcoutim is preparing to host the 17th edition of its ‘Feira de Doces d’Avó’ (Grandmother’s Sweets Fair) on March 29 and 30 at the town’s pier.
Every year, the event brings together local bakers who make some of the most mouthwatering sweets and cakes you can find in the Algarve, from almond tarts to sweet potato pies as well as a variety of Folar Easter cakes.
This year’s novelties include an exhibition of Easter eggs throughout the entire fair and a showcooking event focusing on sustainable food at 4pm on Saturday.
There will also be the usual musical entertainment and fun Easter-themed activities for children, which will allow them to learn how to paint Easter eggs or make their own Folar.
The fair will be held on both days from 2pm to 7pm. Admission is free.
