Talks ongoing to stave off fine from Brussels regarding taxing large multinationals

Secretary of state for tax affairs Cláudia Reis Duarte said today that Portugal is in direct contact with Brussels and informing Europe of all the steps it has taken to transpose the directive on subjecting multinationals to a minimum 15% tax. Duarte was speaking in parliament during the debate on the government’s proposal to transpose the directive into national law – the delay in which has led the European Commission to file an infringement case against Portugal with the European Court of Justice.
