TAP has admitted that it will start charging passengers “an environmental levy”, which will increase the price of tickets for international flights, from January. The objective is to cover “the substantial increase in costs with the new eco-fuel for planes, which has to start being used from the New Year. According to TAP CEO Luís Rodrigues, the new eco-fuel works out at “three or four times the cost of normal fuel”.
