Sol de Inverno returns this weekend to warm up the city with music, street food, sports and more.
The Sol de Inverno Festival, which kicked off on January 18, returns to the Jardim do Sapal in Tavira for its second instalment on February 15.
The Algarve “Winter Sun Festival,” which is free of charge, offers a full day of activities, including a concert by Sambambas, street food, a market, sports, including a skateboard ramp, and a large children’s games area.
The event is designed for the entire family, including four-legged friends, to enjoy a day out during the “low season.” Filipa Teixeira from the organisation explains, “Our aim is to combat seasonality by enhancing the Algarve’s cultural fabric. In other European countries, people enjoy the outdoors more and do not experience nearly as good weather. Furthermore, individuals appreciate having quality activities in which to engage.”
The organisation recommends that festivalgoers arrive early, as the festival runs from 11h00 until sunset, and advises bringing a blanket to sit on the grass.
The Sol de Inverno Festival is jointly organised by the Associação Cultural Clube de Tavira, the Tavira Parish Union, and the Municipality of Tavira.
