Tax breaks for young first-home buyers will cost €25 million this year

Portugal’s government estimates that the exemption from purchase tax and stamp duty on  purchases of first homes by young people will cost around €25 million in the first six months of the year and €50 million in 2025, finance minister Miranda Sarmento has told the Budget, Finance and Public Administration Committee (Cofap) today. The exemptions for under-35s are expected to come into force from next month (August).
