Teen hands himself in after allegedly ‘displaying firearm’ at school during dispute between pupils

A teenager who ‘allegedly displayed a firearm’ in a dispute between pupils near a school in Benfica, Lisbon, today has handed himself in at the local police station, the PSP have revealed, stressing there were no injuries. According to an official source from the Lisbon Metropolitan Command, at 13:42 an alert was received that there had been a ‘threat with a firearm’ on Estrada de Benfica, next to Escola Básica 1,2,3 c/JI Pedro de Santarém. The suspect in the threat – who wasn’t alone – was identified by the police, but before being located voluntarily turned himself in at Benfica police station, where he was still present at 4pm. “Enquiries are ongoing”, said the police source, noting that the PSP remains at the scene and is also trying to identify the other students involved.
