At least ten vehicles (some reports count 11) were totally destroyed in the early hours of this morning in Amadora, one of the Lisbon suburbs recently affected by the wave of violent attacks against property prompted by the police shooting of a civilian. But this time it had nothing to do with criminal damage. The source appears to have been a short-circuit in one of the cars that caught fire, rapidly spreading its effects to other vehicles parked in the general vicinity. The fire started at around 4am, in Praceta José Magro, Casal São Brás. Reisdents woken by the blast were able to raise emergency response rapidly. PJ police are investigating.
