THE RESIDENT has received a letter from Buckingham Palace, expressing Her Majesty’s gratitude for publishing an article commemorating 50 years since the Queen’s State Visit to Portugal.
In 1957, between February 18 and 20, Queen Elizabeth II made her first visit to Portugal, disembarking from the Royal Yacht moored in the Tagus. Earlier this year (February 23), The Resident printed an article about this trip and sent on a copy to the Queen.
A letter arrived at The Resident office recently bearing the Buckingham Palace seal. Signed from Senior Correspondence Officer, Mrs. Sonia Bonici, the letter reads: “The Queen has asked me to thank you for your letter of 28th February.”
