Thieves steal watches worth €340,000 in Quinta do Lago

GNR police are searching for the thieves

GNR police are searching for the group responsible for stealing two watches worth €340,000 in the Algarve resort of Quinta do Lago.

According to TVI, both robberies happened recently in a short span of days and were filmed by CCTV surveillance cameras, footage of which the news channel had access to.

The most recent robbery happened after a couple had just bought a watch, believed to be worth €88,000, at the resort’s Buganvilia shopping centre. On their way back to the hotel they were staying at, the man was approached from behind by the robber, who stole the watch and ran.

Days before, a watch with an estimated worth of €250,000 had also been stolen from another couple, TVI reports, adding that one of the victims sustained minor injuries during the robbery.

The culprits escaped in a car with a Spanish license plate and are wanted by GNR police, which is leading the investigation.
