February 26 was not a good day for Algarve drug dealers.
While Portimão’s GNR police busted a drug-dealing couple, aged 20 and 34, in Mexilhoeira Grande in the morning, another dealer was also arrested later that afternoon in Albufeira.
In an official statement, GNR’s district command said that police in Portimão noticed a suspicious-looking car and van parked in an isolated area in Várzea de Arão, Mexilhoeira Grande, during a routine patrol.
A search of the van found enough hashish for “270 individual doses”, as well as two 12-calibre shotguns, two pistols and ammunition.
Later that day, police in Albufeira came upon a 41-year-old man known to be connected to “illicit activities” who seemed “nervous”. A quick body-search revealed 193 individual doses worth of hashish about his person.
In both cases, the suspects were due to come before their local courts.
