Secretary of state for Tourism Pedro Machado says the government expects tourism to grow this year between 2% and 5%. Speaking at FITUR (Madrid’s international tourism fair, considered one of the world’s largest and most prestigious), Machado told reporters Portugal is “making a very serious commitment to expanding” the international markets from which tourists visit the country with “new airlines that are already selling their trips in Portugal”. The country “does not have too many tourists”, he added. “We have the capacity to continue expanding”.
