Around 40 people were rescued from a tourist boat which sunk today near the Alfanzina lighthouse in Carvoeiro, Lagoa.
Reports CMTV, some of the people onboard fell into the sea and had to be rescued.
All that is known so far is that water started leaking into the boat, causing it to sink.
“Nobody is left in the water. The passengers are being evaluated by a medical team,” Portimão port captain Rodrigo Gonzalez told Rádio Renascença.
Thirty-nine members from maritime police, the Navy and firefighters are at the site in an attempt to stop the boat from sinking completely.
