Tourist sleepovers bring in €2 billion between January and May

Tourist sleepovers have brought in revenue for the sector of more than €2 billion between January and March this year. The lion’s share of the income (€1.8 billion) was spent in four- and five-star hotels. AL (Alojamento Local) short-term rentals accounted for €194 million, and rural tourism for €73.6 million. The data published by INE statistics Portugal shows that Lisbon was the area most sought after during the first five months of 2024, while growth in the number of foreign tourists came to 5.9%.
