For 28 years, the Feira da Serra de São Brás has been an event that showcases the best traditions and products that the small inland town has to offer. Now an event that also values “innovation,” the fair has become one of the “biggest summer events” in central Algarve.
The 28th edition begins today (Thursday) and runs until Sunday (July 28), promising a fun-filled experience for all.
Figs, one of the fruits used the most in Algarve cuisine, will be one of the stars of the show. Also promised is the launch of a new beer made at a local brewery and a new kind of carob milk.
But no matter where you turn, chances are you’ll find some kind of interesting product typical to the Algarve. There is also a long list of musical guests and entertainment planned.
As São Brás’ deputy mayor Marlene Guerreiro puts it: “The Feira da Serra is synonymous with the promotion of traditions but also the ability to reinvent and create innovative and competitive products in this global world”.
She also highlighted the local community’s role in the event’s success, particularly the participation of young volunteers, some of whom are only “half the age of the event”.
Described by São Brás mayor Vítor Guerreiro as an event “that brings tradition and innovation together,” the fair has become more than just a handicraft or gastronomy festival – it also helps more local entrepreneurs blossom.
Daily tickets cost €4, while a four-day pass is available for €12. They can be purchased online at Blueticket.
