The cleaning, debris extraction, and damage mitigation operations involved 133 operational staff and 60 support vehicles.
According to Civil Protection, the EN125 in the Algarve is closed to traffic in the Luz de Tavira area due to flooding caused by rain during the night and early hours of today.
Furthermore, the Algarve railway line is closed in the Fuseta area (Olhão) due to the derailment of a train caused by stones on the line washed away by the rain.
A source from the National Civil Protection Authority (ANPC) told Lusa news agency that between 00:00 and 08:00, “adverse weather” caused 45 incidents in the Alentejo and, mainly, the Algarve regions. The source highlighted that there were no victims or personal damages.
The main consequences of the bad weather were 17 tree falls, 21 floods, six road cleanings (of aggregates washed onto public roads), and one mass movement (earth or rock slides).

In Tavira, Municipal Road 514-2, at Ponte de São Domingos in Asseca, and National Road 397, between Tavira and Cachopo, are also closed, added a source from the Algarve Sub-regional Command.
In the municipality of Olhão, traffic on Municipal Road 516-2, between Moncarapacho and Alfandanga, is closed.
The same source added that 134 incidents involving 393 operational personnel and 161 support vehicles in the Algarve since midnight Friday were recorded.
Olhão and Tavira, in the eastern (eastern) Algarve, were the municipalities most affected by the bad weather.
The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) again issued a yellow weather warning for the districts of Faro and Beja today. Showers, which will occasionally be heavy and could be accompanied by thunderstorms and hail, are forecast for the area until 13h00.
