Grinding on and on in the courts, it now appears that the complicated Football Leaks trial may come to nothing – thanks to its main protagonist, nothing short of an IT genius, Rui Pinto, 34, benefitting from the papal amnesty granted in honour of the Pope’s visit to Lisbon next month. The only problem with this amnesty is that it was announced for young people aged between 16-30. Rui Pinto is ‘a veteran of 34’. But as the prison population’s over-30s have already been complaining the law is unconstitutional, it may well be rolled out to include all ‘non-violent/non-drug related offenders’, and thus Rui Pinto may finally be able to move on with his life.
