Trial of Madeleine suspect postponed due to offensive tweets

The trial in Germany today of Christian Brückner, the ‘final suspect’ in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann in Portugal, has been postponed until next week due to the offensive tweets of one of the members of the jury. Mr Brückner is on trial for a number of sexual assaults that took place in Portugal between the years 2000 and 2017. He is not expected to speak during the trial which has been painted by the defence as another attempt to find Brückner guilty of almost every sexual assault/ disappearance that ever took place in Portugal in recent history. The offensive tweet had nothing to do with Brückner per se: it was about former president of Brazil Jair Bolsonaro, suggesting he should be killed.
