Guia is famous in Portugal for its chicken
Guia, a small town in Albufeira famous in Portugal for its unique grilled chicken recipe, will host its Chicken Party (Festa do Frango) between August 1 and 4 at the local sports pavilion.
Visitors will be able to taste the iconic ‘Frango à Guia’ and see what all the fuss is about, as well as enjoy the long list of entertainment and visit a handicraft fair.
Organised by the local football club Guia Futebol Clube with the support of the Guia parish council, Albufeira municipal council and local businesses, the event has become a summer staple in the small town.
“This event is already part of our history, as Guia Futebol Clube has been involved in organising it from the very beginning. It is an important way for us to promote a local product and generate revenue that will support the club’s projects and the hundreds of young people we engage,” says Alexandre Reis, president of the local football club.
Dinis Nascimento, president of the Guia parish council, stresses that “this is one of the main events of the summer calendar and serves to promote a brand that is part of our identity,” adding that he is proud to “belong to a community that, during a time of intense work for everyone, gives so much voluntarily to showcase the excellence of our territory.”
Doors open on all four days at 7pm.
