Two gentlemen looking for a home: Thor and Fjord

Both are ready for a fresh start and a loving home

This week we’d like to introduce two special boys at the Cadela Carlota shelter in Lagos – each with a unique story, but both ready for a fresh start and a loving home.

Thor is a nine-year-old dog with a long and winding past. He originally lived in Portimão, but one day he disappeared – his owners didn’t know whether he had run off or been taken. For six years, he was missing. Then, out of the blue, he was picked up by a kennel in the Alentejo. Thanks to his microchip, they were able to contact his family, who were overjoyed to know he was alive.

They tried to bring him back home, but unfortunately, Thor didn’t get along with their other dog. After a few days of tension, Thor ran off again and ended up back on the street. That’s when we were called to help.

Thor is now safe at the sanctuary. He’s friendly, gentle, and loves human company – but he finds it hard to share his space with other dogs. He would be happiest as the only pet in a quiet home where he can enjoy calm companionship and regular cuddles.

Fjord – Cadela Carlota

Fjord is a white male cat who came to us in May 2024. After being abandoned, he stayed around the building where he used to live. A kind neighbour noticed he was losing weight and not doing well, so she called our team.

Fjord has been with us for a few months now, but shelter life isn’t easy for him. He’s a bit overwhelmed by the noise and the number of other animals. What he really wants is a home of his own, where he doesn’t have to share his food, bed, or litter tray. He can be a little grumpy when things get too busy, but with one-on-one attention, he is a gentle, affectionate cat who loves a quiet cuddle.

Both Thor and Fjord are wonderful companions, each in their own way. They’re just waiting for someone to see their potential and give them the home they deserve.

If you’re thinking of adopting, please get in touch – we’d love to introduce you to these two lovely boys.
