One of the accused is believed to have raped “at least six women”
Two masseurs have been arrested in the Algarve for alleged crimes of rape.
A 59-year-old foreign masseur suspected of raping “at least six women” was arrested in Vila do Bispo by PJ criminal police based on a European arrest warrant issued by authorities in Netherlands.
Says a PJ police statement sent out to newsrooms on Saturday, April 13, the crimes took place between 2013 and 2017 when the man worked at a “tantric massage parlour.”
“Taking advantage of the fact that he was a masseur, the man raped at least six women,” PJ police said, adding that the man currently lived in a jeep which he used to travel around the Algarve and the south of Spain.
The suspect appeared before a judge at Évora’s Court of Appeal and will await extradition in preventive custody.
This Monday morning (April 15), PJ police also announced the arrest of another man, 47, for the suspected rape of a 71-year-old foreign woman at a massage parlour in Loulé. The suspect has already been heard by authorities and has been prohibited from contacting the victim and witnesses. He will also have to report weekly to his local police station.
