The Portuguese Air Force is hemorrhaging pilots to the private sector (where they can earn three times as much as they take home in the armed forces).
At a point where the need to strengthen Europe’s defences has become a major issue, reports today highlight that 12 pilots have resigned the air force since the start of this year, which is already half the number that left in the entirety of 2024.
