Two Poems by Roberto Cavaleiro, Tomar,  February 2, 2024

The Trapeze Song

Are you ready to leave his embrace

And fly to me across the void of space

With a somersault of love

(Or is it only affection?) on the way

To clutch my hands in yours

And safely swing on the trapeze

Of our fleeting years.

Trials of Passion

Swift from the starting line

Like lightning he races

Over jumps and through tunnels of love

Then to see-saws, slides and roundabouts

Before jumping the final hoop

To reach the finishing line.
