Two small Portuguese satellites heading to space aboard SpaceX rocket

SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket is sending two small Portuguese satellites into space today, one from the company LusoSpace to monitor maritime traffic and one from the University of Minho for educational purposes. The launch will take place at 6.48pm (Lisbon time) from Vandenberg Space Base in California, USA. PoSAT-2, from LusoSpace, and Prometheus-1, from the University of Minho, are the fourth and fifth Portuguese satellites to be sent into space, after the ISTSat-1 and Aeros MH-1 nanosatellites, in 2024, and the PoSAT-1 microsatellite, in 1993. Ironically, this launch takes place a day after the rocket launch of SpaceX’s founder Elon Musk’s great rival in the space race, Jeff Bezos, was called off/ postponed due to a ‘vehicle subsystem issue’…
