Ukraine’s war wounded applauded by government and MPs (except PCP communists)

The first group of Ukrainian war wounded who arrived in Portugal last week for rehabilitation treatment were roundly applauded today during their visit to parliament. Prime minister Luís Montenegro referred to the “aggression that Russia carries out every day, calling into question the values of democracy, human rights, the dignity of the human person and respect for international law”, and PS leader Pedro Nuno Santos saluted “”all the Ukrainian people for the struggle, for the defence of territorial integrity, for freedom in their country”. MPs generally applauded energetically for well over a minute – all except PCP communists who have, since the beginning of the conflict, refused to support Ukraine in any way at all.
