The number of people listed as unemployed in Portugal is growing. For purposes of statistics, the situation is taken from the number of people receiving unemployment benefit (which is not a true figure of those out of work, but it is nonetheless ‘telling’). Numbers thus ‘on the dole’ increased in October by almost 10,000 on the same month last year, coming to 133,980, writes Lusa.
