A suspected drug trafficker – one of seven men targeted in a police swoop near Faro yesterday – remains on the run, PSP police confirmed to the Resident today (Wednesday).
The 30-year-old, described as armed and dangerous, managed to evade arrest after a mega police operation on October 29 raided nine local homes, most of them in the rundown Horta da Areia area.
The raid, which followed months of police surveillance, seized hashish, heroin, cocaine, cash and other related drug paraphernalia.
Six men were taken into custody – all apparently well known to police – and now the hunt is on for the final member of the team.
Viola Silva, Faro’s PSP commander, appealed to anyone who knows the man’s whereabouts to contact police.
On no account are people advised to approach the wanted man, he said, as he is considered to be dangerous.
