This really is something quite unique, coming from a well-reputed Douro producer and made by the highly skilled winemaker Rui Cunha whose great triumphs in white wine include Covela.
An unusual blend of the Alsace grapes Riesling and Gewürztraminer with the Portuguese Malvasia Fina has resulted in a wine of great elegance.
On the nose it is the Riesling that comes to the forefront with grassy and citric notes; the Gewürz adding a touch of passion fruit whilst in the mouth.
The wine is full and rounded from fermentation on the lees with flavours of white fruits and a fresh acidic finish.
This is not a quaffing wine by any means but ideal to be enjoyed with white meat or fish in creamy sauces and very well suited to cheese. Priced at around €14.
