Algarve’s Via Algarviana walking trail is receiving a €3,500 boost from Alcoutim council to help with its maintenance and management.
Created in 2006, the Via Algarviana is a network of paths linking Alcoutim to Cape Saint Vincent in Sagres mostly through countryside and mountains.
The pan-Algarve trail is seen as an important part of the region’s strategy to appeal to a different kind of visitor and bolster winter and low season tourism.
The trail is managed by environmental association Almargem with support from the councils of Alcoutim, Aljezur, Castro Marim, Tavira, São Brás de Alportel, Loulé, Albufeira, Silves, Monchique, Lagos, Portimão and Vila do Bispo.
