Victim narrowly escapes being shot in head following Sintra mugging

Armed mugger shoots victim’s ear

One of three young people mugged in a street in Cacém, within the borough of Sintra, earlier this week narrowly escaped being shot in the head. A bullet fired after the trio had handed over their valuables, clipped the youngster on the ear. Another few centimeters in the wrong direction, and the injury he suffered could have been a lot worse, if not fatal.

PJ police are now on the trail of the armed robber, who attacked his victims in Rua Elias Garcia, at around 11pm on Monday.

According to reports, he was not wearing any kind of ‘hoodie’ or scarf/ covering obscuring his face, so his victims got a good look at him.

The firing of his weapon came literally as he was making off with the young people’s wallets/ property. It may have been a mistake, but whatever his intention, the mugger made off after the shot rang out.

This is just another report of attacks involving firearms, which are seemingly being increasingly used in crimes in Portugal.
