For three days, Vila Real de Santo António will back go to the 1700s
The countdown has begun for ‘Vila Real de Santo António Setecentista’, an event that promises to take the town back to the 18th century.
The first edition was held last year and was considered such a success that it is making its return between May 17-19. For these three days, the town’s historic centre will revert to the 1700s with a wide range of processions, historical reenactments, street markets, live performances headlined by a videomapping show and a banquet.
“This is a new anchor event,” says the municipal council of Vila Real de Santo António, adding that the event aims to recreate the every-day life of the town in the 18th century, and highlight its “historical, cultural and social importance.” It will also serve to mark the 248th anniversary of the foundation of Vila Real de Santo António.
All the events are free except for the banquet on Saturday, May 18, with information about how it can be booked due to be revealed soon.
