Vilamoura International School raises €12,500 for charity

The school’s Christmas Fair helped raise the funds

The Vilamoura International School (CIV) community raised €12,500 in aid of “families facing financial difficulties”.

The Big Hand (€1,500), Mãozinhas Solidárias (€3,500), Cáritas Algarve (€3,500), and the Refeitório Social de Quarteira (€4,000) were the charitable projects chosen by the CIV community this year.

Additionally, food donations were made to the Associação Existir, which significantly contributed to their Christmas baskets. In this festive season, the animals residing at Animal Rescue Algarve (ARA) were also not forgotten and received food donations.

Cidália Ferreira Bicho, the Pedagogical Director of Vilamoura International School, said: “Empathy, solidarity, and commitment to others are values that need to be cultivated from an early age. The charitable initiatives carried out at CIV are essential in forming children and young people who are committed to humanism, attentive to the needs of others, and eager to help improving the world.

“The excellent results achieved are due to a combined effort of teachers, assistants, staff, students, and their families, all of whom got involved with great enthusiasm and dedication in organising and promoting the Christmas Fair; by families and companies who generously donated prizes for the raffle, and by everyone who promoted their products at our fair. To all of them, we extend our heartfelt thanks.

“We would also like to thank the Câmara Municipal de Loulé, the Junta de Freguesia de Quarteira, and Inframoura for sharing stalls, stages, and Christmas decorations. The contribution and support of everyone involved prove that together we are stronger and capable of making a positive impact on the lives of many. These charitable initiatives strengthen our school’s mission of educating for life, promoting essential values that go beyond books and classrooms. Let us continue on this path together, believing in the power of example and the strength of the community.”
