President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has chosen Portuguese Paula Pinho to lead her spokesperson service, an EU source has told Lusa. Paula Pinho is currently director for Just Transition, Consumers, Efficiency and Innovation at the Directorate General (DG) for Energy and started working at the European Commission in 2000. Now the future chief spokesperson for the new Von der Leyen commission, Pinho has been part of the cabinet of several commissioners, and has also worked in DG Trade and DG Internal Market.
