VRSA allocates 3 million euros for health centres’ renovation

The intervention will focus on the health centres in Vila Real de Santo António, Vila Nova de Cacela, and Monte Gordo.

The financing contracts to requalify three health centres in the municipality of Vila Real de Santo Antonio (VRSA) were signed on Tuesday, June 4, by Mayor Álvaro Araújo at the Ministry of Health headquarters.

The contracts included in the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) encompass projects to renovate and extend health facilities. The total investment for these projects amounts to €3,220,000, with the RRP financing nearly €3,040,000.

The total sum will be divided between three key health facilities in the area: the Vila Real de Santo António Health Centre will receive €2,779,000; the Esteva Family Health Unit in Vila Nova de Cacela will be allocated €227,000; and the Levante Family Health Unit in Monte Gordo will benefit from €213,000.

The project aims to enhance health centres by upgrading their physical infrastructure, boosting energy efficiency, and enhancing accessibility, safety, and comfort for both users and staff. These objectives align with the PRR’s goals, which advocate for the refurbishment or modification of buildings to cater to these requirements.

“With these interventions, we are creating all the conditions to ensure our citizens have access to quality health care in modern and adequate facilities. The requalification of the health centres in our municipality is, without a doubt, a fundamental step towards improving the well-being of our population”, says the mayor, Álvaro Araújo.

In attendance at this session were the Deputy Minister for Territorial Cohesion, Manuel Castro Almeida, and the Minister for Health, Ana Paula Martins.
