Walk & Art Fest returns to Lagos with new features

The Festival is set to return to Barão de São João from November 1 to 3, with more than 100 activities, including additional music, a theatre walking workshop, and a photography tour.

Walk & Art Fest is back by popular demand for its 7th edition in Barão de São João. Between November 1 and 3, the event will once again feature guided nature walks with specific themes, poetry readings, mountain trail cycling, family activities, yoga classes, workshops on plant-based cooking, and creative art methods.

Although participation in all events is complimentary, attendees must register in advance on the festival’s official site.

The 7th edition of the event will once again count on the mobilisation of the local artistic community, which will come together to provide visitors with a creative immersion in a village with such peculiar characteristics.

The event opens at 09h00 on November 1 with a selection of walks and the conference “Walking Festivals: What has changed in the Algarve?” featuring a roundtable discussion on the region’s evolution with various tourism representatives.

The already famous collective art installation across the village will once again be one of the highlights, this year inspired by “Freedom.” Participating artists will lead an inaugural guided walk on November 1, highlighting the connection between local nature and culture.

Daily activities include numerous hikes of varying difficulty levels, including night walks and all sorts of activities for the little ones, such as artistic workshops, nature exploration, and daily practices such as yoga, meditation, and Tai Ji Quan.

On Saturday night, the Centro Cultural de Barão de São João will host a concert by Josephine Nightingale, a singer-songwriter whose voice is rooted in soul, jazz, blues, folk and reggae.

This year’s novelties include performances by the Algarve Youth Guitar Orchestra, a theatre walking workshop, and a collective photography walk.

On Sunday, artist Eva Herre will open her Barão de São João studio for a “meeting with colour” workshop.

The Walk & Art Fest is organised by the Câmara Municipal de Lagos and Associação Almargem and is part of the Algarve Walking Season. Events will be held in various local venues, supported by partnerships with tourism companies and other entities.

Registration for the entire programme will be available on the festival website, www.walkartfest.pt, from October 11 at 10h00.
