A COUPLE in the UK called the police when their eight-year-old daughter refused to go to bed.

At 3am, officers were called to the house in Hampshire, after the girl had been playing for several hours, refusing to go to sleep.

The police officers arrived and, after 45 minutes, coaxed the girl to sleep. A spokesperson for a UK charity set up to support parents raising their families, said: “Some parents just get to the end of their tether”.

Michael Scanlan, from the Family and Parenting Institute said: “We cannot give behavioural advice for parents. What I would say is I understand some parents can get very stressed and struggle with their children. There are places they can go such as NHS Direct. It is up to the local authorities to tell them where to get the relevant support to stop them wasting police time”.
