A 45-year-old woman has been arrested in Braga, suspected of having caused seven forest fires in various parishes of the municipality of Póvoa de Lanhoso since July 23. In a statement, PJ police said the woman drove between parishes, mainly at night, causing fires “with recourse of direct flame” (most likely meaning, use of matches/ a lighter). Apart from damages caused to the forest, her actions placed local people and their property in “very high danger”. The woman is due to be brought before magistrates to hear bail conditions, if any.
