A 38-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her husband inside an apartment in Pedra Mourinha, Portimão, this Thursday morning (November 26).
Authorities were alerted after neighbours heard screaming coming from the apartment. The couple reportedly “fought frequently”.
The man has been arrested and is in the custody of PSP police, a “source linked to the process” has told Lusa news agency.
The same source added that the woman was stabbed in the abdominal area, which is believed to have caused her death.
INEM emergency services tried to revive the woman but the death was declared on the spot. Her body has been taken to Portimão’s legal medicine office where an autopsy is due to take place.
The couple have three children, including 12-year-old twins.
PJ criminal police are investigating.
