Another young man has been stabbed to death – this time in Carcavelos, and again following an altercation with a group of youths. The 22-year-old reportedly was leaving the bar where he worked, near Carcavelos beach, when he noticed the group pestering girls who had been on the beach. He went over, to try and end the confusion, explain reports, and minutes later he was stabbed, by one of the youths, in the chest and neck, “losing a lot of blood”, and dying in spite of efforts by paramedics called to the scene. Says SIC Notícias: “This crime took place at a time when residents are talking increasingly about the climate of insecurity in Carcavelos” (see top story box). The suspect fled the scene but later gave himself in to a GNR police station. PJ police are investigating.
