A young woman died this morning after going on an early morning swim with friends at Lagoa beach, Póvoa de Varzim. The alert was raised very soon after she ‘disappeared’ around 6am, and various entities were actioned, including Maritime Police and an Air Force plane. The young woman, believed to be aged between 20-30, was later found “still alive” on the beach, but in “irreversible cardiorespiratory arrest”, a source for the local fire station has told Lusa. A specialised team attached to Maritime Police has been giving ‘psychological support’ to the victim’s friends.
