Within days of the ‘new school year’ getting fully underway, mass testing has flagged 31 virus outbreaks in crèches, tutorial centres (ATLs) and kindergartens. This doesn’t mean the people infected are ill – just testing positive. There have also been 43 new outbreaks detected in old people’s homes – affecting the previously infected as well as the fully vaccinated. In national terms there are currently 184 active virus ‘outbreaks’, the majority (100) concentrated in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region, followed by the north (26), Centre (24), Alentejo (22) and Algarve (12).
