Last Friday (November 2), José Carlos Martins Rolo undertook his duties as the new Mayor of Albufeira, replacing Desidério Silva, who has moved on to become the new leader of the Algarve Tourism Board (ERTA).
Gratefully accepting his new role, the former Deputy Mayor since 2002, José Carlos Rolo said that despite the economic and financial crisis in Portugal, he would ensure that every effort was made to “turn Albufeira into one of the best tourist destinations in the world”.
José Rolo added that his main concern was to continue to work in the same manner as the previous executive – “with seriousness, rigour and responsibility, for the wellbeing of citizens in Albufeira”.
The role of Deputy Mayor has been awarded to councillor Marlene Silva.
