How wonderful to read in your newspaper last week that Portugal has been voted best European golf destination and the Algarve best beach destination in the World Travel Awards for Europe.
I have been visiting the Algarve since the 80s and, although I am not a golfer and therefore cannot comment on the wonders of playing the sport in Portugal, I do know some of the region’s beaches well, particularly those between Albufeira and Lagos and those on the west coast.
I love photography and though not a professional, I can say that my best beach shots have been taken in the Algarve. The scenery is just stunning!
My perfect day out is to go to the beach on a late-summer afternoon, soak in the weaker sun rays through the sparse clouds above and finish off the day with a photo session.
When I return to my home country, it fills me with such joy to remember the Algarve through my photographs.
And then I start saving up for my next trip in your delightful part of Portugal…
